During the conception of the poem I considered including insights from the field of neurology and neurolinguistics, but it all got too abstract and complicated. Some twenty years ago an aged neurologist explained to me a theory he was working on: our relation with reality is touch. ‘Everything is touch’ he said. I’ve never forgotten his slender, wrinkled hands illustrating his story. He was married to a popular poet, whose poems can be seen as the application of his theory.
