If they are anything, Christmas and Thanksgiving are foremostly moral. Or should be. Celebrations of gratitude for and optimism about the probability of goodness and harmony.

Spreading a deadly disease is amoral. As a humanist I try to avoid harming other human beings. I believe in the power of altruistic individuals. We can do this together by being careful. It is only a small sacrifice to avoid travel. There is nothing partisan in this. The idea that ‘democrats’ are ungodly per se is a gotspe.
