Message from one exo-planet to another
I love and admire your article, Kristle.
In the eyes of real rural Georgians, I must be, well, someone from gas giant exoplanet HD 189733b, 25.000 light years away. Dutch, from Europe, just like all my ancestors, cosmopolitan, atheist, humanist, anti-nationalist, dedicated to science, believing in evolution theory, pacifist, supporter of green deals, pro universal health care, pro subsidized public education, pro abortion rights, pro strictly controlled euthanasia, pro higher taxes for the rich, pro federal and state assistance programs for the poor, pro bans on tobacco, pro arms control in any form, pro feminist, pro BLM…….(But I am not a communist and I detest the former Soviet distortion of socialism).
Still, I simply loved your post, Kristle! Detailed, well-documented analysis about nice, family loving folks on another exo-planet, just like me in their need for income, affordable housing and food, safety, good health, love and harmony. People who love and respect their ancestors and care for their offspring.
I am absolutely confident that most people from this exoplanet would like me, as much as I would like them. I am sure we share many values. And still a Grand Canyon of differences separates us — see my introduction.
It somehow explains an enigma to me: how it is possible that 71.000.000 US voters still support an obviously incompetent, racist, misogynist, sexist, fraudulent white liar (41000 lies, and counting) as their president? Because he served their conservative agenda, against change.
