Thank you for sharing this revealing story, Joel. I am convinced the two-party system is adding to the present political, economical and social crisis in your country. It leads to election of unseemly presidents, squeezes out nuance, causes huge transition losses after every jump from democrat to republican and back, strengthens the established elites, blocks the roads to real change, boosts polarization.
May be you should try to find a middle road, not add a republican faction, but really renew by developing a third road. But your story is only one of procedures and process, not content. It is hard if not impossible to discern the policy program/new vision of the new movement in your story. What’s new in it?
(I am Dutch, from the country of ‘polderen’, coalition cabinets and multi-party politics. Polderen: policymaking by seeking compromise of opposing interests and views. This leads to moderation of extremes. And I am (try to be) a humanist, standing at the left side of the political spectrum. We differ much in ideology. But it could surprise us how much we agree on values.)
