You are dead right. Abuse and covering systems are ubiquitous.

Yesterday I watched the ‘Spotlight’-docudrama. It shows how an enabling system works, in this case the Catholic Church, enabling and even supporting mass abuse. It proves your point. More proof in the system of sports - abuse by coaches and officials, covered by the male power system. I can only offer Dutch reports. Just to show there is proof available two links. The system of abuse is ubiquitous in my country, generally known to be tolerant and open. I am sure it is even more so in many other countries.
