You certainly started something, Ambreen! I actually wanted to write a positive poem about the theme, but the remembrance of quite some early New Years day mornings produced something quite different.
hangover
dirty light
percolating through curtains
signals: too late for the new year;
with the truth of a headache
and thumping thirst
for sizzling hot coffee
a thought dizzies like an unsolved formula:
please,don’t let it be a memory
of the future again.
